An update on the past couple of weeks. We went home on the 16th. Was great to see the kids again and spend some time with them. The weather wasn't bad, not too cold, no new snowstorms, but lots of mud and water. On Thursday we went to William's music class presentation at school - a lot of fun. He's doing really well and got a great report card. Sydney was operated on on Friday the 18th. The surgery went well . By Saturday morning she decided she'd like to take a walk so we got her up with all her "gear" and she walked around the ward. From then on we couldn't keep her down. William is such a great big brother, they're very close. The first thing she would say whenever we came to the hospital was "where's William". He'd get up on her bed with her and they'd play games or watch movies. They started her feedings on Saturday morning and on Sunday she came home. Sydney's now healing well and getting used to her nighttime feedings while she sleeps. She's already gained a pound and we're thrilled. When Alan asked her why she was having surgery she replied that she was having a "g" tube put in her stomach "so her underwear wouldn't fall down anymore"! She's pretty amazing and funny.
We came back to Cape Coral on Tuesday the 22nd. We had Easter dinner at Alan's sister, Shirley's, house with our nieces and their new husbands and friends. Was a lot of fun. We've been working on the Bartlett house. It's up for sale and realtors have been coming by. Alan has fixed everything that we knew wasn't working - electrical, plumbing, etc. We haven't gone out with the boat because we're waiting for our new Avon rib. We bought an 11.5 foot Avon rib with a 20hp Honda and center console at the Miami boat show - going to have our own "go fast" tender!. We're waiting for it to arrive. In the meantime Alan has repaired and repainted the nester dinghy and put it up for sale. So since we don't want to put the nester back in the water we're feeling a bit landlocked. We're hoping the rib will be delivered next week.
I found a fabulous decorator fabric shop in Fort Myers. Didn't want to just hang out and laze in the sun every day. So I'm re-upholstering the settee and the chairs in the main saloon of the Jitney.
Have I mentioned the traffic around here? It's totally amazing. On Wednesday we tried to drive to the beach in the morning for the day. Left the house just before 10:00 am. The traffic was so bad (bumper to bumper for an estimated 2 miles which would take about an hour) that we turned around, came back to the house, and went swimming in the pool. You really have to time your trips accordingly around here - especially during vacation weeks.
I've been having a tooth problem - yuck! Been on antibiotics and advil for seven days now (plus a few extra rations of wine!). Saw a dentist on Monday and have an appointment with an endodontist next Monday. I think I'm looking at a root canal. Don't care much - just looking forward to solving the problem.
Since we didn't make it to Key West via our boat this year we've decided to go by fast ferry next week to celebrate our anniversary. We're going over on Wednesday, spending the night and coming back on Thursday. We're really looking forward to it. The following week we're hoping to get out for another cruise - perhaps back to the Naples area. Then on the 16th we're heading to Fort Myers beach. We have a dock slip there for a week. The kids are coming down for the week. They have a house with friends Sharon and Ray and their girls at Bonita Beach. We're really looking forward to that. We always have such a good time with all of them.
