Came down to the mooring field at the beach last Monday, March 27, and we're back to our old routine. I've been running on the beach in the mornings and we've been doing a lot of walking in the afternoons. Alan has been doing a little waxing of the topsides and reading. I've been beading again. Weather has been fabulous. The seven day forecast on TV for this week consisted of seven bright suns with temps around 85 every day and lows around 65 every night! I've never seen anything like it!
We drove up to see Shirley and Don on Friday and then did some shopping. Alan bought me a gold chain for the conch pearl pendant that he purchased in the Bahamas for me for our anniversary (which is this week). When we were in the Bahamas in February we learned about conch pearls. They're extremely rare and occur in the Queen Conch. If you'd like to read about them click on this link. How fortunate am I to have such a sweet guy!

My conch pearl necklace :)
This morning we went on an excursion to Big Carlos Pass. It takes us about 45 minutes to get there by dinghy. It's a great beach spot and good place for fishing. Alan did some fly fishing from the beach while I did some spin casting. We were standing in the water and we could see the schools of fish chasing after our lures. Didn't catch anything but it was a lot of fun. Walked over to the fish market this afternoon to buy shrimp for dinner.
The other day we decided to fly home for Easter. Got some good fares on Southwest so we'll be flying up north on Wednesday the 12th. Looking forward to seeing the kids and family.

Met Ron and Margie aboard "Amarige" from Canada and Steve and Kate aboard "Santih" from Oklahoma today. They just came in from cruising Mexico and Cancun.
Took the Jeep out of storage and went on an excusion to Sanibel and Captiva Islands for the day. First we've been there since "Charlie". Hardly recognized the place. All the big trees and dense foliage are gone. Had a great lunch at a very nice restaurant on the water, The Green Flash. A real fun day.

Alan drove Ron from "Amarige" to the airport to check in with customs (because they just came in from Mexico) this afternoon while I worked on my beading. It's starting to get really hot and humid. Had a great dinner aboard "Amarige" with Ron, Margie, Steve and Kate. They're leaving tomorrow to start their way back north.

We're back at the dock at Shirley and Don's. Spent yesterday cleaning the boat and working on projects. Starting to think about leaving her for the summer. Tomorrow we fly home for Easter. We're really looking forward to seeing the kids. Hope the weather is nice enough to get some yard work done. We know we have a big tree that came down during the February storm. Alan hopes to get that cleaned up. Won't be back here until the first of May and then we'll begin to pack up in earnest. We have another trip to the Bahamas the week of May 14 then we drive home.
