Wrapped up business at Hilton Head. Picked up our rental car, packed it and headed home around 10:00 am . Drove straight through and arrived home around 3:00 am Friday morning. We stopped frequently and found driving at night slow. Ran into some freezing rain just south of Albany. Yuck!. Woke up Friday morning to find wild turkeys in our back yard! We always knew that we had a flock out in the back forty but I guess since Sparky isn't around to bark at them they've moves in closer. Frost on the ground and cold.

Had a great week home with the family. On Saturday night Emma had a surprise, belated, birthday party for me . It was the best and just what the doctor ordered - family, friends, and kids - a really terrific evening. After ddinner the kids, William, Sydney, Liza, and Charlotte put on a great show - future Osmonds?. Spent the rest of the week just hanging out with the kids and family and getting ready to head back. Left home around 4:00 am and drove straight though again only this time during the day - much better. Turned the AC on in the car in Virginia, arrived at the marina around 8:30 pm - warm and pleasant evening.

Warm morning - shorts and tee shirt weather - yeah! Sure is good to be out of the cold - not sure we'll ever spend another winter up north. Picked up groceries, dropped off the rental car and left the marina around noon - had to leave on the high tide - this marina doesn't have any water at low. What a great feeling to be back at the helm and heading down the waterway. I think driving a boat at 7 knots is a lot more fun and relaxing than driving a car at 70 mph. Saw plenty of water taxis and ferries between the islands around Hilton Head. The best one was an old amphibious landing craft. Anchored just south of Savannah GA for the evening in Herb Creek. Sure do like life on this boat.

Anchor up at 7:15 am. Had a beautiful day traveling through Georgia's winding rivers and marshes - some of the nicest we've been through so far. Went for miles without seeing another boat. You could spend a lifetime exploring these rivers and marshes and never see the same place twice. From the top deck we could see for miles - marshes, rivers, creeks - it was really quite a view. Dolphin came along side and swam with us - surfaced twice just off the dinghy. Anchored in Old Teakettle Creek just off Blackbeards Wildlife Refuge. Lots of birds and wildlife , very secluded , bright stars and moon - a lovely evening. After dinner we heard some strange sounds outside. We stepped out on deck and saw and heard dolphins surfacing all around us - really neat. The tide was going out so we think they had come up from the inlet and were feeding. Georgia is our favorite place so far.
