Unique bags made with ANDROSIA, the fabric of the Bahamas
During one of our many trips to the Bahamas aboard our catamaran, “Island Girl”, I discovered the fabric, Androsia. I originally brought the fabric home because the colors and designs remind me so much of the beauty of the Bahamian Islands. It wasn’t long after I created my first few bags that friends were asking me to make bags for them – thus Bahama Mama Bags began.
I donate 50% of the sales of Bahama Mama Bags to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of my granddaughter, Sydney, who has Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. There is no cure; but today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.
When you purchase one of my bags you not only get to bring the brilliant colors and designs of the Bahamas home; but you will be promoting research that can directly help improve the lives of all those who are living with Cystic Fibrosis. So Enjoy!

ANDROSIA
Hand Batiked
Fabric
Made in the Bahamas
Androsia is a batik fabric produced on the island of Andros in the Bahamas. Since 1973 the producers of this fabric have used the beauty of the environment of the Bahamas for inspiration in their print designs and brilliant colors.
Androsia was the winner of the Silver Jubilee award for 1998. The Silver Jubilee award celebrated 25 years of Bahamian independence. It was given to certain individuals and companies who have made significant contributions to the Bahamas.
The company was originally started as a cottage industry in 1973, the year of Bahamian independence, with two goals in mind. First, to create meaningful employment for locals and secondly, to create a quality product that would, through its design and color, highlight the beauty of the Bahamas. Androsia is a strictly Bahamian product.
The fabric designs come out of the fabric using the art of batik. True batik. Every yard is waxed then dyed on the island of Andros in the Bahamas.
